We must try this!

What a great way to feed the poults, train them up so that they come to you and get flying practice at the same time.

Dog Fox

One dog fox was the end result for Saturday/Sunday lamping session. This was shot on the big field below the cow sheds from 143 yards approx. Other proposed victims were spotted, but some were lamp shy and others got a good whiff from us humans due to the strong breeze (which was not in our favour) and ran for cover!
At least we did get one as we had guests with us from Belgium so it good to show them something for the night.

Another Zilch!

It most of been the new camcorder that put the mockers on the lamping session Tuesday night. Was hoping to get some video of any shots taken between the three of us which also included Martyn. We did see a couple of reynards during the night, but they were not going to oblige us and remained in an unsafe position to pull the trigger.
The conditions looked good as it was a dark night with a decent breeze blowing which on most occasions would encourage the fox population to come out and feed.
Next time as they say and fingers crossed that the camcorder will be in action.

Fallow in the New Forest

If you know where to look you will find deer in the Forest. This herd of fallow are at Rhinefield and only about 100 yards off a well used track. What I find amusing is that most people do not have a clue that the deer are there even when walking past. The white doe has been there for at least three years. If we didn't have the dogs with us we could of walked around the back of them and got a lot closer.

Cheers Stephen

A big thanks to Stephen for lamping, driving and squeaking....the first dog fox was coming in like Lassie due to the calling.
It's good not to miss the shots after the hard work is done by somebody else.

Hatrick!

Here we have various pictures taken earlier this morning from a successful nights lamping. The end result being 2 dog's and 1 vixen. Stephen and I started approx 10pm Friday and eventually got the first dog fox at about 2.30am in the big field by the cattle sheds. This was followed by another dog fox from the hedge row between the Ring of Tree's field and Sausage Wood all from about 15 yards! Caught him by surprise if not us. The vixen was from the field below Beach Wood.
No long shots but at least three bullets sent and none missed.
