Some in considerate idiot decided to set alight to their LDV van that they had driven about 70 yards into Beachwood Shore strip. Probably an insurance scam and thankfully nothing more than the van that was damaged.
Fire brigade duly called, who did their stuff.
Just remains to be seen who has to remove the burnt out vehicle, hopefully the authorities will do so with a little help from a tractor.

Game Shoot.
Game shoot at the Winchester farm resulted in a fine bag of 24 pheasants. No other game shot but I might of tagged a long range pigeon which disappeared into the woods.
Started with Beachwood Shore drive, drove it backwards this time and it worked a treat so will continue with going opposite to the previous norm. Moved onto the River game strip which has the best game strip that I have seen on the farm and guess what, lots of birds flushed. Sedge beds next which although promises much is too thick to beat without a few more spaniels. Clump of Tree's drive followed with partridge's breaking early but nothing going forward for the guns. Lunch.
Beachwood Pen drive, the big one! Drove it backwards as a tester to see if it worked. It did for some of the guns but we need to revert back to normal as this drive is a banker for all of the guns to get a shot. Last drive was the Railway bank, two birds flushed and I think not hit.

Product Test
Not going into spec detail as that is not my thing, as long as a tool performs and does what it is supposed to do then I am satisfied. I have now had the Eden bino's for a couple of months and have been able to use in low light conditions as of last night as an example. The only let down was the lack of any beasts to focus on but as far as I am concerned when 19.30pm occurred and with the light conditions fading fast I was still able to make out fine details at the other end of the field. Of course the Eden is not going to compare with a Zeiss or other such makes costing £1000 plus but then again what bino's will when under the £400 bracket. I certainly don't have a grand to spend so therefore need an affordable pair of glass's to carry out it's duties to a high degree and the Eden's do just that.
Build quality is excellent, focusing is easy, light gathering good, would I recommend? Yes.

5 star
This weeks lamping total was 5, 4 to my gun and 1 to Stephen. All five came off two fields, one pair pictured was a left and a right if you call that with rifle shooting. No missed shots this night!
Have attached two pictures showing 3 of the bag.
White Extra's
A few more white birds were added onto the shoot a week or so ago, they help with the tracking of birds plus if any of the guns brings one down then the £50 fine will help towards the shoot funds for next year.

Rain Clouds
Some shots of the incoming weather on Saturday morning, managed to dodge the rain until approx 2pm when it was a little torrential.
Partridge Calling Pen
I think this will be the first on the Farm shoot with the introduction of a Partridge calling pen installed up near one of the tree clumps. The majority of the field is remaining as stubble and with a game cover to come up hopefully we might be able to attact and keep hold of the partridge that often appear in this area.
The pen was built on Saturday morning and we have made it as strong as possible and hopefully acceptable to the incoming birds.

Currently field testing a pait of binoculars supplied by Eden.
This model is the Eden Quality XP 10x56, which so far have proved to be an excellent pair of bins. Will test out more thoroughly in half light conditions when able to get out and will let you know the outcome

Brin
To Brin, the original rebel cocker! If the owners had wanted Brin rehomed then I would of said yes without hesitation. There was something about Brin which captivated me even though his rebel instinct was high, in my eyes he could do no wrong. Thankfully I'll always remember those cock birds he put up in the winter rape which thankfully I connected with. Shoot days will not be the same without him. Thankyou Brin.

Ziess Bino's
Real long shot this one! Getting a little fed up with clients that turn up with bino's that put my set to shame, even though good in good light conditions they suffer with light gathering when the conditions are darker ie first thing in morning as sun breaking or evening as the day light dims. Anyway if, and it's a big IF, some one has a top quality set of bino's from Zeiss or equivalent make and would like to trade against some work that I can do then please let me know....
Client Buck
Andy, from the Isle of Wight, took this Roe buck on Tuesday evening. We first started on the Sedge Bed fields but soon moved off due to the presence of a herd of cows (incorrect info supplied). Plan B was onto the Worthy Park silage field where plenty of slots shown but after an hour's wait nothing showed. Always a bit wary re deer and a freshly (within a couple of days) muck spread field, please correct me if wrong but get the feeling that the deer won't use a field that is covered in cow crap. Probably just answered my own question, if they won't use the same field as when cows on then why would they with cow crap on and stinking of cows! Plan C next, time against us with the dimming daylight hours. A quick drive to the other side of the farm and after some cunning planning and stalking Andy got in a position to take a shot from sticks.
New Forest Ponies
Picture taken about two weeks ago, one of the first youngsters this year. One day will invest in a good slr camera.

Client Buck 12th May 2012
First client Roe Buck of the 2012 season taken on the 12th May 2012. Client first started on one the high seats for approx an hour whilst I sat underneath with the dog, wind wasn't really in our favour so it was stalk around the field. Sods law prevailed as we got to the opposite side of the field to the original high seat the deer ventured out under the seat. No point in doubling back as the wind was against us so proceeded around the whole field. Another buck was bumped on way round but eventually glassed this buck laying up at the end of the game strip hedge. Client crawled another 40 yards and waited until a humane shot could be taken.
